New Dawn in Edo State: Monday Okpebholo Takes the Reins

Monday Okpebholo has officially taken office as the new governor of Edo State, succeeding Godwin Obaseki after his eight-year tenure. In a ceremony held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Okpebholo vowed to prioritize citizens’ welfare through his “Five-point Agenda”. This comprehensive plan focuses on security, infrastructure and road development, affordable healthcare, water and food sufficiency, and value-driven education.

Okpebholo’s administration aims to deliver robust economic growth and significant improvements to citizens’ lives. He emphasized his commitment to meeting the people’s expectations, stating, “I will not betray the confidence you have placed in me”. With Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa by his side, Okpebholo is poised to steer Edo State toward enhanced development and prosperity.

As the newly elected governor, Okpebholo brings a wealth of experience to the table. Born on August 10, 1970, in Udomi-Uwessan community of Irrua, he holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Abuja and a Master’s degree in Policy and Leadership Studies from the same institution. Okpebholo’s charitable work through the Monday Okpebholo Foundation has provided scholarships, healthcare services, and vocational training to underprivileged communities.

His campaign focused on economic reform, foreign investment, and infrastructure development to bring stability and growth to Edo. With his diverse portfolio encompassing ventures in hospitality, construction, oil and gas, and agriculture, Okpebholo is well-equipped to drive Edo State’s growth and development.
