Enugu State Government Condemns Bullying and Assault at Federal Government College

The Enugu State Government has strongly condemned the bullying and physical assault of a student at the Federal Government College, Enugu, describing the incident as deeply troubling and emotionally distressing. The government has ordered a swift investigation, arrest, and prosecution of those involved.

The incident, which occurred in the school hostel, has sparked widespread condemnation, with the state government reaffirming its commitment to providing a safe and conducive learning atmosphere for all students. As Governor Peter Mbah emphasizes, the welfare and safety of Enugu State’s citizens, including students, are his top priority.

The Federal Government College, Enugu, is a unity school established by the Nigerian government to foster national integration and unity among Nigerian youths. With its motto “Pro-unitate” translating to “For unity,” the school aims to nurture well-rounded individuals prepared to make a positive impact on the world .

Stating from a public service announcement that was issued by the Enugu State Commissioner for Education, Prof Ndubueze Mbah on the evening hours of Monday 11th November 2024, the Enugu State Government has zero tolerance for bullying and abuse in schools, and has warned that there will be consequences for such acts. The government is working with the Federal Ministry of Education to ensure that appropriate sanctions are applied to both the errant students and school managers who failed in their duties.
