The Imo State Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Engr. Augustine Okere, is presently attending the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party taking place in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

The crucial meeting, presided over by the National Chairman of the SDP, has in attendance the National Secretary, the Woman Leader, other national executives, and all 36 state chairmen of the party.

According to information from the party’s national secretariat, the meeting is aimed at reviewing the party’s current structures across the federation, strengthening coordination between state and national organs, and fine-tuning strategies ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking before the meeting commenced, Engr. Augustine Okere emphasized the need for unity, focus, and transparency within the SDP, describing them as “the core values that distinguish the Social Democratic Party from the rest.” He reiterated the party’s commitment to offering credible leadership and an alternative platform that reflects the hopes of ordinary Nigerians seeking responsible governance.

“The Social Democratic Party remains a home for Nigerians who are tired of recycled failures. We are building a platform driven by people of integrity, competence, and compassion,” Engr. Okere said.

Party insiders disclosed that the NEC meeting will also deliberate on issues of internal reorganization, membership drive, the economic situation of the country, and SDP’s policy alternatives on national security, education, and economic development.

As the 2027 general elections draw nearer, the Social Democratic Party appears poised to reassert itself as a leading force in Nigeria’s political landscape, positioning credible and competent candidates at both state and federal levels.
