Nigeria’s First Lady Hails Uzodimma For Opening Imo To The World…as governor assures Tinubu of Imo’s support in 2027

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commended Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma for his efforts to open the state to the world through massive infrastructure development and other transformative initiatives.
She said the governor’s infrastructural interventions, particularly in improving access by land, sea and air, had positioned Imo State as an emerging investment hub capable of attracting investors from across the world.
Senator Tinubu spoke during her visit to Imo State, where Governor Uzodimma also reaffirmed the state’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at an empowerment programme in the state, where 2,500 women and vulnerable persons benefited from various forms of assistance aimed at improving their livelihoods and economic well-being, the First Lady urged Governor Uzodimma to sustain his transformative leadership and ensure that Imo remained at the forefront of development.
She expressed satisfaction with the governor’s continued efforts to create opportunities for women and other vulnerable members of society, while simultaneously enhancing the visibility of Imo State and positioning it for increased investment and economic growth.
According to her, the empowerment programme was another demonstration of the Uzodimma administration’s commitment to improving the lives of ordinary residents and ensuring that vulnerable groups were not left behind.
The programme, which attracted women and other beneficiaries from across the state, provided support designed to strengthen businesses, promote self-reliance and enable beneficiaries to make greater contributions to the state’s economy.
Uzodimma Reaffirms Support for Tinubu
Speaking at the event, Governor Uzodimma reiterated that Imo State would remain firmly aligned with President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor said Imo had benefited from various policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration, expressing confidence that the people of the state would continue to support the President.
Uzodimma said the state’s position was informed by the need to sustain the development programmes and reforms being implemented by the Federal Government.
The empowerment initiative and the governor’s declaration formed part of the administration’s broader efforts to support vulnerable residents while advancing its developmental agenda in the state.
First Lady Honoured by Traditional Rulers
The First Lady’s visit began at the palace of the Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, where she was received by prominent traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife, the Obi of Onitsha, the Dein of Agbor and other first-class monarchs.
The traditional institution honoured Senator Tinubu with the title “Oso Di Eme,” meaning “a supportive wife,” in recognition of her contributions to nation-building and her support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
At Ndubuisi Kanu Square, venue of the empowerment programme, hundreds of women gathered to receive items and other forms of support aimed at strengthening their businesses and improving their livelihoods.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, said the intervention was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to empower women at the grassroots and improve their economic independence.
The wife of the governor, Chioma Uzodimma, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that would contribute to improving the economic well-being of women across Imo State.
The event was attended by wives of state governors, serving and former federal and state lawmakers, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Doris Uzoka-Anite, among other dignitaries.
