The Imo Diaspora Support for Governor Hope Uzodimma has joined the growing stream of congratulatory messages pouring in for the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSSR, GSGI, following his prestigious recognition as the “Governor of the Decade” by the renowned Daily Times newspaper.
The group described the recognition as a well-deserved honour and a reflection of Governor Uzodimma’s visionary leadership, developmental strides, commitment to good governance, and dedication to the progress and transformation of Imo State.
In a statement issued by the Coordinator and Convener of the Imo Diaspora Support for Governor Hope Uzodimma, Ochiagha Nnanna Okere, the group expressed profound delight over the honour, noting that the recognition further underscores the growing national appreciation of the Governor’s accomplishments in office.
According to the statement, Governor Uzodimma’s emergence as Governor of the Decade is not only a personal achievement but also a source of pride to the people of Imo State, particularly Imo indigenes in the Diaspora who continue to identify with and support the administration’s development agenda.
Chief Okere, who is also the Publisher of Nigerian Politico Newspaper, noted that the award represents a significant acknowledgment of the Governor’s efforts to reposition Imo State through strategic infrastructure development, economic reforms, human capital development, improved security, and other initiatives aimed at creating a more prosperous and sustainable future for the state.
He said the recognition by Daily Times is particularly significant given the newspaper’s long and distinguished history in Nigeria’s media landscape.
The Nigerian Printing and Publishing Company, publisher of Daily Times, was incorporated on June 6, 1925, with its first edition published on June 1, 1926. Headquartered in Lagos, Daily Times grew to become one of Nigeria’s leading newspapers and, by the 1970s, one of Africa’s most successful locally owned businesses. Following its decline after government acquisition in 1975, the company was sold to Fidelis Anosike’s Folio Communications Limited in 2004. Daily Times subsequently resumed publication in 2006 and returned to the streets in December 2014 as efforts to revive the historic publication and its other titles continued.
Against this rich historical background, the Diaspora Group described Governor Uzodimma’s recognition as an honour of considerable significance.
The group further commended Daily Times for identifying and celebrating leadership and public service, describing the award as an encouragement for the Governor to remain focused on his administration’s developmental agenda.
“We are immensely proud of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and we warmly congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition. This honour reflects the impact of his leadership and the growing recognition of the transformation taking place in Imo State,” Okere said.
He added that the Imo Diaspora Support Group would continue to support initiatives that promote the progress, unity, development, and positive image of Imo State.
The group therefore congratulated Governor Uzodimma, his family, the government and people of Imo State, and all stakeholders who have contributed to the successes recorded by the administration.
