IROMA Chairman, Ononuju Applauds Gov. Uzodinma As President Tinubu Commissions Landmark Projects In Imo
The Chairman of the Imo Roads Maintenance Agency (IROMA), Hon. Barr. Kingsley Ononuju, has praised Governor Hope Uzodinma for what he described as a bold and transformative leadership that has reshaped the landscape of Imo State.
His remarks came in the wake of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s one-day working visit to the state, during which the President commissioned several landmark projects to jubilant celebrations.
During the visit, President Tinubu formally inaugurated the 52km Mbaise–Umuahia Road, the Control–Assumpta Twin Flyover, and the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre (EIICC). The commissioning ceremonies were marked by traditional dances, music, and widespread excitement from residents, who hailed the projects as symbols of renewed pride and progress in Imo State.
Speaking after the events, Hon. Ononuju lauded Governor Uzodinma’s foresight and commitment to meaningful development.
“Governor Uzodinma has once again proven that governance is about impact, not rhetoric. These projects are monumental both in scale and importance. The Mbaise–Umuahia Road will ease transportation, boost trade, and significantly cut travel time across communities and states. The Twin Flyover will decongest traffic and redefine Owerri’s cityscape, while the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre is set to become a hub for commerce, diplomacy, and global engagement. These are not just projects; they are enduring legacies,” he said.
The IROMA Chairman further emphasized that the commissioned projects are part of the governor’s broader development agenda. He highlighted other key roads, including the Owerri–Orlu, Owerri–Okigwe, and Owerri–Umuahia roads, as critical arteries that have already opened up both rural and urban areas for greater economic activity.
“As head of the Roads Maintenance Agency, I can testify to the governor’s dedication. What we are seeing is not patchwork governance but systematic infrastructure renewal. Roads that were once death traps have become highways of opportunity, linking communities and powering development. The people of Imo can feel the change, and visitors to our state can see it too,” Ononuju noted.
He added that the governor’s approach reflects a long-term vision rooted in sustainability and legacy.
“Governor Uzodinma is laying foundations that will endure beyond his administration. He is investing in projects that meet today’s needs while preparing for tomorrow’s growth. This is the kind of leadership that transforms societies,” he said.
In a closing reflection, Hon. Ononuju prayed for Imo’s continued progress and for visionary leadership to succeed the current administration.
“Governor Uzodinma has raised the bar for governance in Imo. My prayer is that when his tenure ends, Imo will again be blessed with a leader of equal clarity, courage, and passion for the people. Continuity is essential if we are to sustain and build on the gains we are celebrating today,” he concluded.
