AGABIGE LAUDS GOV. UZODIMMA, URGES RECONSTRUCTION OF IHIOMA-UMUHU OKABIA- ORSUIHITEUKWA-ORSUMOGHU,EZIAWA-IHITENANSA ROAD TO BOOST POST-INSECURITY RECOVERY

The Imo State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Hope Uzodimma to direct the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Development to commence immediate reconstruction of the Ihioma-Umuhu Okabia-Orsu Ihiteukwa-Orsumoghu road with spur to Eziawa-Ihitenansa.
This was contained in a motion moved by the Member representing Orsu State Constituency, Hon. Francis Uche Agabige, during plenary on Tuesday,28th 2026.
Leading the debate, Hon. Agabige noted that while the State Government under Governor Uzodimma has already embarked on the reconstruction of the Amaifeke-Ihioma-Ebenato-Awoidemili-Isieke Federal road, the Ihioma-Umuhu Okabia-Orsu Ihiteukwa-Orsumoghu link road remains in a deplorable state.
He said the road is a critical inner link that will complement the ongoing federal road project and significantly boost economic and social activities within Orsu communities.
“Whereas the Governor has returned life to Orsu environs after a protracted insecurity, further observing that the poor state of this link road has made life difficult for residents and is a hindrance to the fast return of activities post-insecurity,” Hon. Agabige stated.
He warned that failure to fix the road will make it difficult for indigenes who abandoned their ancestral homes to return, thereby leaving the area vulnerable to insecurity.
The motion was seconded by the Chief Whip and Member for Oru East State Constituency, Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri.
Contributing, Hon. Johnson Duru of Ideato South commended the mover of the motion and described Governor Uzodimma as “the Nehemiah of our time” for his role in restoring peace to Orsu. Hon. Chisom Ojukwu of Nkwerre and Hon. Johnleoba Iheoha of Ikeduru also described the motion as timely and urged members to support it.
Presiding over the session, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chyna Iwuanyanwu, put the motion to a voice vote and it was unanimously adopted. He thereafter directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the resolution to the Governor for necessary action.
