Ogbujingidi Joins Onwa Oyoko at APC Stakeholders Meeting in Owerri, Captivates Audience with ‘Lady in the Bikini’ Metaphor

It was a moment of depth and delight at the APC Southeast Stakeholders Meeting held in Owerri over the weekend as former Imo State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim (Ogbujingidi), joined His Excellency, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma, CON (Onwa Oyoko), and other party leaders from across the region. Speaking glowingly about Governor Uzodinma’s stewardship, Ohakim remarked that while the governor has already performed creditably well, he would astonish Imo people even more with what he will accomplish in the remaining period of his tenure. To illustrate his point, the former governor employed a witty metaphor — likening Uzodinma’s unfolding achievements to a “lady in the bikini,” saying that “what you see is impressive, but what remains unseen will be even more fascinating.” The remark instantly lit up the hall, drawing laughter, applause, and admiration from attendees.

Dr. Ohakim was speaking at the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders Meeting, held at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, Owerri. The event, which attracted party stalwarts from across the state and the Southeast, provided a platform to review the progress of the party and renew commitment to the developmental vision of Governor Uzodinma’s administration.

Expanding on his remarks, the former governor commended the Imo State governor for his infrastructural strides, administrative discipline, and firm leadership in the face of security challenges. He urged stakeholders to continue rallying behind the governor as he consolidates his gains and tackles residual issues confronting the state. According to Ohakim, “but for the efforts of the governor, criminal elements would have captured each and every one of us.” He expressed optimism that the remaining period of Uzodinma’s administration would deliver even more remarkable progress and stability across all sectors.

The meeting also featured addresses from several prominent stakeholders who took turns to commend Governor Uzodinma’s leadership and developmental achievements. Among those who spoke were the immediate past Deputy Governor, Professor Placid Njoku; Senator Osita Izunaso; Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi; Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite; Mr. Chris Okewulonu; Hon. Chuma Nnaji; Prince Lemy Akakem; and Prince Marcellinus Nlemigbo. Speaker after speaker eulogized the governor’s efforts in infrastructure renewal, healthcare delivery, human capital development, and institutional reforms that have repositioned the state for sustainable growth.

Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Dr. MacDonald Ebere, in his welcoming address, enjoined party faithful—especially those holding public offices—to provide more financial and strategic support to the party to enable it to continue strengthening its grassroots structures and positioning itself as a credible political force in the state and beyond.

In his response, Governor Hope Uzodinma (Onwa Oyoko) thanked the stakeholders and party members for their continued loyalty and unwavering support. He reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of Imo citizens, promising to double his efforts in delivering democratic dividends across all sectors. The governor also appealed to those working against his administration to turn a new leaf and join hands with the government in moving the state forward, noting that the APC remains the most credible platform for anyone with genuine political aspirations in Imo State and the Southeast.

The meeting ended on a high note, with renewed unity and optimism resonating among the party faithful. The synergy displayed between former Governor Ohakim and Governor Uzodinma — two experienced administrators and political tacticians — was particularly applauded as a demonstration of maturity, loyalty, and shared vision for the continued progress of Imo State.
