Renewed Hope Ambassadors Are Partners, Not An Opposition Within APC – Opiah

The Imo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah, has clarified that the organisation is not an opposition group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), but a committed partner working toward the advancement of the party and its leadership.
Opiah made this clarification while addressing a press briefing in Owerri, the Imo State capital, where he dispelled concerns among some party stakeholders regarding the role of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors. He explained that the group shares the same objectives as the APC, provided its activities are geared toward advocating and promoting the legacies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the overall development of Nigeria.
Speaking during the inauguration of the 21 Local Government Area Coordinators of the RHA, Opiah— a former Minister of State for Education— reaffirmed the organisation’s total loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, “whose courage and reform-driven leadership are repositioning Nigeria for sustainable, long-term growth,” as well as to Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, “whose development-focused governance continues to transform Imo State.”
According to him, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors remain partners in progress, complementing the party’s mobilisation efforts and operating strictly within the framework of party unity, discipline, and loyalty to constituted leadership.
He urged members to uphold the message of Renewed Hope not merely as a slogan, but as a practical commitment to improved living standards, inclusive development, and political stability for all citizens.
“This platform is not for personal political ambition; it is a service platform,” Opiah stated. “Those appointed as coordinators were selected based on their experience, commitment to party ideals, and capacity to mobilise people at the grassroots.”
Charging the newly inaugurated coordinators, he described their roles as a call to service, stressing the importance of accessibility, active listening, and respectful engagement—even with political opponents.
“Democracy thrives on persuasion, not intimidation,” he said, adding that electoral success depends on sustained engagement, performance-driven campaigns, and consistent presence among the people, rather than past victories.
Opiah also emphasised the need for political advocacy to go hand in hand with peace and stability. He noted that Imo State had previously faced security challenges but acknowledged the significant progress made under Governor Uzodimma’s leadership.
“It is noteworthy that Imo State experienced a peaceful Christmas and New Year celebration across communities,” he said. “People from far and near returned home to celebrate with their families. We commend the government and security agencies for this achievement.”
He called on residents to continue supporting security agencies with useful information, promote lawful conduct, and foster unity across political and ethnic lines.
Addressing members of the media, Opiah urged responsible and factual reporting, stressing that democracy functions best when citizens are well informed and public discourse is anchored on truth rather than speculation.
Looking ahead, he revealed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Imo State will intensify grassroots engagement, policy sensitisation, and voter education, while supporting government programmes and strengthening party structures in preparation for future political activities.
He further encouraged the coordinators to actively engage community leaders, youth groups, women associations, market unions, and professional bodies, organise town hall meetings, support party activities, and ensure that accurate information about government policies reaches every part of Imo State.
