Enugu Governor Peter Mbah Defects From PDP To APC

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Mbah announced his defection during a state-wide broadcast, citing the need to align Enugu State with the federal government for greater development opportunities.
“There always comes a time when one must make a bold decision to shape their destiny,” Mbah said. “After deep reflection, we have decided to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and join the All Progressives Congress.”
The governor expressed appreciation to the PDP for its support over the years, acknowledging the platform it provided for his political rise.
“To the Peoples Democratic Party, which offered us the platform on which we campaigned and won, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. The PDP stood with us during a demanding campaign and celebrated our victory,” he stated.
“Leadership often requires tough, sometimes painful choices in pursuit of greater goals. Today, we have made such a choice.”
According to Mbah, his decision to join the APC was driven by a desire to enhance service delivery to the people of Enugu State and to align with the ruling party’s development agenda.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for his policies, noting that Enugu State has enjoyed “massive support” from the federal government since Tinubu took office.
Governor Mbah’s defection was accompanied by members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, council chairmen, councillors, and other political officeholders in the state.
His move follows a growing trend among PDP governors in the South-South and South-East regions. Reports indicate that Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri is also finalizing his defection to the APC, following similar moves earlier in the year by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, who both joined the ruling party along with their aides and appointees.
