In a surprise move, Hon. Blyden Amajirionwu, a prominent figure in Imo State politics, has announced his resignation from partisan politics. The announcement was made during a press conference held today, February 14, 2025.

Amajirionwu, who represented Ngor Okpala State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, cited his desire to focus on building his private business enterprise and humanitarian services as the reason for his resignation. He expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Hope Uzodimma for their support and opportunities given to him during his time in politics.

Despite his resignation from partisan politics, Amajirionwu assured that he will remain committed to supporting good governance and the well-being of the people of Imo State. He also announced his partnership with The Mazi Organisation (TMO), an NGO dedicated to humanitarian services and improving the welfare of people in the society.

Amajirionwu’s resignation marks the end of an era in Imo State politics, where he was known for his commitment to human development and sacrifices that had sustainable impacts on the lives of people. His legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire and motivate others to follow in his footsteps.

Hon. Blyden Amajirionwu’s resignation from partisan politics has coincided with another significant departure from the APC in Imo State, Cajetan Duke, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC and Amajirionwu’s kinsman from Ngor Okpala LGA, who also resigned from his position.

Duke’s resignation letter, addressed to the State Party Chairman, Hon. MacDonald Ebere, Ph.D, has raised eyebrows, with many speculating that these resignations are connected to the upcoming 2027 Imo gubernatorial election. The timing of these resignations has sparked curiosity, leaving many to wonder what implications this may have for the APC’s chances in the election especially in Ngor Okpala LGA where the duo hails from.
