Today, September 12,2026, family, colleagues, friends and well wishers gather not just to install an officer but to celebrate a life that has become a compass for many. Rtn. Dr. Ngozi Ifediatu(Née Ohakim) – newly elected Charter President of Rotary Club of Owerri Arugo Gardens – stands before us as a builder of minds, a steady administrator, a scholar, and a servant leader whose footprints are visible in classrooms, in homes, and now, in Rotary Club.
This is a tribute to excellence that chose service as its home.
The Scholar Who Chose to Teach
Dr. Ifediatu’s academic journey tells the story of deliberate growth. She earned a Bachelor of Education Degree in Educational Technology from the University of Port Harcourt. She went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Lagos. And, she crowned it with a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management from Imo State University.
That path was not pursued for titles. It was pursued for impact. Her research and publications in educational technology and management have found their way into lecture halls and staff rooms across Nigeria, helping teachers teach better, and learners learn deeper. She writes not to be quoted but to be used. Her books and journal articles confront real problems: how to manage schools well, how to deliver curriculum with fidelity, and how to bring technology into teaching without losing the human touch.
The Administrator Who Leads With Integrity
A teacher by calling, Dr. Ifediatu serves today as a respected lecturer at Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri. Her work in the classroom formed the foundation for a larger assignment: leadership.
By dint of hard work, integrity, and administrative competence, she was appointed Principal of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education Demonstration Secondary School, Alvana Model Secondary School. She is currently serving her 2nd tenure in that role, a rare vote of confidence that speaks louder than any commendation letter.
Under her visionary leadership, Alvana Model School has become a reference point. Academic performance has improved. Discipline has been restored as a culture, not a slogan. Staff welfare has received attention. Infrastructure has been upgraded. But beyond the metrics, hundreds of students and teachers have been mentored. She does not just run a school. She raises people. Many of the young men and women who passed through her gates are now carrying her lessons into universities, professions, and communities.
That is leadership that multiplies.
The Author Who Advocates
Dr. Ifediatu is a renowned author. Her pen has been as busy as her office. She has published several books and numerous scholarly articles in reputable local and international journals. Her consistent theme is simple and urgent: quality education and capacity building for teachers.
She believes that when you equip a teacher, you equip a generation. That conviction drives her advocacy. It is why she pushes for the integration of technology in education, not as a trend, but as a tool to expand access and deepen understanding. Her scholarship is practical. It meets teachers where they are, and then it lifts them.
The Rotarian Who Personifies Service Above Self
Today, 12th September 2026, marks a historic moment. Rtn. Dr. Ngozi Ifediatu is being installed as the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Owerri Arugo Gardens.
To be a Charter President is to carry a founding mandate. It is to set tone, culture, and direction. It is to answer the question: What kind of club will we become?
In Rotary, Dr. Ifediatu personifies “Service Above Self.” Her administration has chosen to focus on three areas where need is urgent and impact is lasting: Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, and Community Development.
These are not random choices. They flow directly from her life’s work. As an educationist, she knows that literacy is freedom. As a mother and community leader, she knows that healthy mothers raise healthy children. As a builder, she knows that communities thrive when people have both skills and support.
She leads with humility, with wisdom, and with a passion to serve. In her, Rotary has found a President,who will measure success not by meetings held but by lives changed in Owerri and beyond.

Dr. Ifediatu is happily married and blessed with children. She balances the demanding roles of academic, school administrator, Rotarian, wife, and mother with grace and commitment. Those who work closely with her speak of her fairness, her attention to detail, and her quiet strength. She corrects in private and celebrates in public. She plans well, and she follows through. She listens first.
That balance matters. It reminds us that service does not require the abandonment of home. It requires the ordering of priorities and the courage to show up fully wherever you are called.
