UZODIMMA URGES UNITY, REAFFIRMS CHARTER OF EQUITY AS STAKEHOLDERS FROM OWERRI ZONE PLEDGE LOYALTY

Governor Hope Uzodimma has called on leaders and stakeholders of Owerri Zone to remain focused and united, stressing that the Charter of Equity was conceived under his administration to ensure peace, fairness in the rotation of the governorship among the three senatorial zones of Imo State.

Addressing stakeholders and leaders of Owerri Zone at the Government House Executive Chambers, Governor Uzodimma described the Charter as his initiative, created to guarantee inclusiveness, peace, and progress in the state.

“Don’t be distracted. The Charter of Equity is my product, and it was designed for the peace and progress of everyone,” Uzodimma said. “Imo should be united because one zone alone cannot do it. Leadership is about the people, and unity must not depend on whether or not you are the favored candidate.”

Uzodimma urged Owerri Zone to work in partnership with Orlu and Okigwe zones to prevent divisions that could derail collective progress. “Join me now to cure this problem under my watch. Before you find another leader who has the fear of God, like Hope Uzodimma, nobody knows,” he declared.

He cautioned against divisive politics and urged stakeholders to embrace unity rather than opposition. “Confrontation cannot win elections. The ruling party in Imo is APC, and together we can build a stronger state,” Uzodimma added.

The Governor also highlighted the state’s health insurance scheme, subsidized by the Federal Government, as a key initiative that should take precedence over wasteful political spending. “Instead of wasting money on campaigns, subscribe to the health scheme and help us tackle this menace,” he urged.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Chief Akarachi, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his efforts in the zone, particularly the rehabilitation of the Owerri–Okigwe Road and the Ekemele axis. He assured Uzodimma of the zone’s loyalty and readiness to support any candidate he endorses.

Similarly, former Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Prof. Placid Njoku commended the Governor’s leadership and commitment, pledging that Owerri Zone would stand firmly behind him. “You have worked hard, and we support you. We want you to return to this state a hero. Owerri Zone is loyal to you,” he affirmed.
