IMO HEALTH COMMISSIONER, CHIOMA EGU BAGS NMA GREAT AMBASSADOR AWARD

The Imo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu, was on Sunday, August 17, 2025, conferred with the prestigious award of Great Ambassador of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) by the Imo State chapter of the association.

The award was presented during the NMA’s 2025 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference .

This award was in recognition of Dr. Egu’s outstanding support for the association and her significant contributions to the advancement of healthcare in the state.

Dr. Egu, a family physician, has served the medical community and the health sector in multiple capacities, consistently championing initiatives that promote professional growth, strengthen healthcare systems, and improve service delivery.

She was accompanied to the event by state government functionaries such as the Commissioner for Youths, Dr Emeka Mandela and ES of Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA) Dr. Uche Ewelike and a team of health professionals who also received their own plaques and also joined in celebrating the recognition of her efforts.

In her remarks, the Commissioner expressed deep appreciation to the NMA for the honour. She assured the association of her continued commitment to its growth and reaffirmed her dedication to strengthening the health sector under the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

The event further highlighted the strong collaboration between the state government and medical professionals in shaping a more resilient health system in Imo State.
