The Imo State Commissioner for Rural Development and Empowerment, Chief Ifeanyi Oruh, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to grassroots development while urging residents to embrace peaceful and responsible political participation as activities ahead of the political season gather momentum.
In a message marking the beginning of August, Oruh described the month as a significant period in the state’s political calendar, calling on citizens to actively contribute to shaping the future of their communities through constructive engagement.
The commissioner said his visits to rural wards and local government areas have reinforced the importance of grassroots communities to the state’s development, noting that meaningful progress should be measured by improvements in the lives of farmers, traders, women, and young people.
According to him, the Ministry of Rural Development and Empowerment remains focused on expanding opportunities for rural residents by promoting sustainable livelihoods and reducing the development gap between urban and rural communities.
Oruh also appealed to Imo residents to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, saying collaboration between the federal, state, and grassroots levels is essential to achieving economic growth, improved security, and infrastructure development.
He urged political stakeholders and residents to conduct themselves peacefully during the political season, emphasizing the need for maturity, mutual respect, and unity.
The commissioner added that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains committed to delivering governance that prioritizes community empowerment and inclusive rural development, with the goal of ensuring that no community is left behind.
He wished residents a peaceful, productive, and prosperous August and encouraged their continued support for good governance and the development of Imo State.
