2025 August Women’s Meeting: Lady B Admonishes Women to emulate Imo First Lady■ You have no excuses to abandon your homes

Imo women have been advised to always accord priority attention to their marital responsibilities rather than indulging in unnecessary excuses, which occasion abandonment of their responsibilities at home. They have also been urged to emulate the simplicity and homely nature of the wife of the Imo State Governor, Dr(Mrs)Chioma Uzodinma, who, despite the enormity of her official duties still creates ample time to attend to her family responsibilities.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Imo State Microfinance Bank, Lady Blessing Nwaoba, gave this admonition at St Mark The Evangelist Angelican Church, Umudurundom in Umunoha Community, Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State, over the weekend, during the grand finale of this year’s August Women’s Meeting in the area. Lady Nwaoba, popularly known with the sobriquet Lady B,spoke as a Guest Preacher at the event.
According to her, no woman has any excuse whatsoever to neglect or abandon her family duties under the pretence of being overdevoted to church assignments. She was emphatic that no priest in any church will ever encourage insubordination in anybody’s home or aide and abet abandonment of one’s home due to the church’s assignments.
She made reference to the wife of Imo State Governor, whom she said never abandons her responsibilities to her family despite the heavy volume of official responsibilities she encounters every day. “Let’s emulate our First Lady in Imo State, Dr(Mrs)Chioma Uzodinma. She is a workaholic, always attending to her heavy official work loads, yet, does not joke with her family responsibilities. Is any of us here more important or busier than our First Lady? Of course, no. So,if she can have time for her husband, His Excellency,Governor Hope Uzodinma, CON, and the family, what stops any us of here from doing so? The family is very important.” Lady B stated.
She averred that a diligent woman plans her programs well, making sure that her job does not negatively affect her family. She asserted that abandonment of family in preference for one’s job often leads to poor upbringing of the child, which may constitute a nuisance to both the family and the child in future.
“The book of Proverbs 22 vs 6 admonishes parents “to train a child in the way he should grow, and when he grows up, he will not depart from it,” she recalled, adding that “the foundation you give a child leads he or she all through the life. Later on in life, it would be difficult for the child to derail so far as the foundation is strong. As mothers, if we are identified with our children who are societal delinquents and never-do-wells,we have failed in our family responsibilities to our husbands and to God,our creator.”
Lady B further drew the attention of the women to the story of a woman called Lydia in the book of Acts of the Apostles 16 vs 13 – 15.She described Lydia as “a woman of faith, grace and hospitality,” who found favour in the sight of God because of her homeliness and humility, stressing that mothers should be diligent in their hearts and with family responsibilities.
