Senate Confirms Chioma Ohakim, Others As Ambassadors

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Barrister Chioma Ohakim, wife of former Imo State Governor Ikedi Ohakim, alongside 63 other nominees as ambassadors of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The confirmation followed the screening and approval of the remaining batch of ambassadorial nominees, bringing the total number of confirmed ambassadors to 67.

Of the 64 nominees confirmed in this batch, 34 are career diplomats, while 30 are non-career ambassadors.

Among the confirmed career ambassadors are Arewa Esther (Oyo State), Adeola-Ibrahim Mopelola (Ogun), Ramat Omonbolale (Lagos), Monica Okechukwu Enebechi (Anambra), Adams Jane Basset (Cross River), Mohammed Lele (Bauchi), and Muhammad Dahiru (Kaduna).

The list of non-career ambassadors is led by Chioma Ohakim (Imo State) and also includes Ajimobi Florence (Oyo), Sulola Akande (Oyo), Ugwanyi Ifeanyi (Enugu), Ita Enang (Akwa Ibom), Femi Fani-Kayode (Osun), Jerry Manwe (Taraba), Reno Omokri (Delta), Ibas Ibok-Ette (Cross River), Abdulrahman Dambazzau (Kano), and Abas Braimah (Edo).

The Senate had earlier confirmed three other non-career ambassadors, completing the list of 67 approved nominees.
