INEC VOTER REGISTRATION & VALIDATION EXERCISE: NYCN OKIGWE ZONE VICE CHAIRMAN, COMR. KELECHI IWUCHUKWU URGES YOUTHS TO ACT NOW
The Vice Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Okigwe Zone, Comrade Kelechi Iwuchukwu, has called on the good people of Okigwe Zone, Imo State youths, and indeed all citizens of the Southeast to take urgent action by participating fully in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Voter Registration and Validation exercise.
According to him, voter registration is not just a civic responsibility but a critical tool for shaping the political and socio-economic future of the region and Nigeria at large. He stressed that securing a valid voter’s card empowers the youth and citizens to decide who governs them, influence policy direction, and strengthen democratic institutions.
Comrade Iwuchukwu noted that the time to act is now, reminding citizens that delays or excuses could deny them the opportunity to perform their democratic duty during the next election cycle. He highlighted the dangers of political apathy, especially among the youth, and urged every eligible citizen to ensure their names are correctly captured in the INEC register.
“The voter’s card is more than just a piece of plastic; it is your voice, your power, and your ticket to demand accountability from leaders. Without it, your opinions may not count where it matters most — at the ballot box,” he emphasized.
He further called on youth organizations, community leaders, religious institutions, and civil society groups to mobilize massively in sensitizing people about the importance of the exercise.
Comrade Iwuchukwu also pointed out that with the demographic strength of the youth population in the Southeast, massive registration and validation would position them as a decisive force in elections, ensuring that the region’s interests are adequately represented and protected.
He concluded by urging everyone not to procrastinate but to locate the nearest INEC office or designated registration center and register without delay.
