BBO Lauds Governor Uzodinma’s Clarification On Imo Charter Of Equity■ Says action reaffirms Governor as a true democrat

The Bring Back Ohakim (BBO) 2027 Movement has noted with keen interest the remarks of Governor Hope Uzodimma when a delegation of leaders from Owerri zone visited him at Government House, Owerri.
Governor Uzodimma made it clear that he would not handpick a successor, insisting that the next governor of Imo State must emerge through a democratic process in line with the spirit of inclusivity and balance. He emphasized that while the Imo Charter of Equity remains a guiding document, it is not an automatic ticket for any zone. Rather, he stated that any zone seeking to produce the next governor must work cooperatively with the others to achieve their aspiration.
In the governor’s words: “The Charter of Equity is not a slogan for confusion, it is a document to remind us of imbalance in the system and guide us on how best to correct it. The process of selecting a successor must remain democratic, and no single zone can do it alone without the cooperation of others.”
Governor Uzodimma also explained that the Charter of Equity was established to restore moral order, eliminate political confusion, and ensure fairness in leadership rotation. He commended leaders of Owerri Zone for their unity but cautioned that they must seek the support of Orlu and Okigwe Zones in line with democratic norms.
The governor further stressed that Imo needs creative thinkers and servant-leaders committed to the people’s welfare while urging political stakeholders to prioritize peace, security, health, and economic well-being over premature campaigns.
The BBO 2027 Movement welcomes this clarifying position by Governor Uzodimma. It reinforces our conviction that the Charter of Equity must be pursued not as an entitlement or automatic right, but through justice, fairness, inclusivity, and broad-based cooperation of all zones, adding that Governor Uzodinma’s stance reaffirms public perception that he is a true democrat. This is why we believe that in 2027, the governorship of Imo State must return to Okigwe Zone, in the spirit of balance, equity, and continuity of leadership, and that Dr. Ikedi Ohakim remains the most tested and trusted statesman to complete his constitutionally guaranteed second term.
We, therefore, call on all leaders and stakeholders across Imo State to embrace this path of justice and fairness, and to work together for a united and progressive Imo where power rotation serves the people and not sectional interest.
