THE TAKE OFF FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE OKIGWE: THE SUPERLATIVE REPRESENTATION OF ONE WOMAN, RT. HON. PRINCESS MIRIAM ONUOHA (NWANYI WU IHE)

By Eberechukwu Okechukwu (MA. PDE, BA, TEFL)

In the words of the legendary John Quincy Adams: “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”
The commencement of various landmark projects at the newly established Federal Medical Centre, Okigwe, is living proof that the representation of Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha (Nwanyi Wu Ihe) is nothing short of phenomenal in Okigwe North Federal Constituency. From the expansion of the hospital structures, the installation of boreholes for uninterrupted water supply, to the completion of an oxygen plant and other critical facilities, the vision is unfolding before our very eyes.
For the doubting Thomases who once believed the project was a political mirage, reality has now dawned, the Federal Medical Centre, Okigwe, is no longer a dream on paper, but a tangible reality taking shape. This feat is a testament to the thoughtfulness, focus, and legislative dexterity of Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha.
It is worthy of note that this achievement did not happen by accident. From conceptualising the bill, to diligently following it through the rigorous processes of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd readings in the House of Representatives, securing concurrence in the Senate, and eventually obtaining Presidential assent after which Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha has continued to use her Legislative acumen to ensure the corresponding funding of the laudable project. Obviously, her commitment has been unwavering. Her capacity to navigate the complex legislative terrain and deliver results underscores her status as an Amazon, a representative determined to rewrite the narrative of her constituency through purposeful and impactful service.
Indeed, when the Federal Medical Centre, Okigwe, becomes fully operational, it is projected to have the capacity to create up to five thousand direct and indirect jobs, a level of employment generation unprecedented in the history of Okigwe North Federal Constituency and indeed the entire zone. This monumental impact on livelihoods will stimulate economic growth, reduce unemployment, and open up new opportunities for professionals, artisans, and support service providers alike.
In a time when the need for consistency of purpose in the Legislative Arm of Government is more critical than ever, Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha stands tall as a shining example. Her work on the Federal Medical Centre project shows that with vision, persistence, and a clear sense of mission, the impossible becomes possible.
As Okigwe North Federal Constituency witnesses this remarkable transformation, there is an urgent call for all to shun sentiments, clannishness, and divisive tendencies. What is needed now is a pragmatic sense of reasoning, the understanding that only through unity and support can Rt. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha Nwanyi Wu Ihe actualise the laudable projects she has been tirelessly working to bring to her people.
The Federal Medical Centre, Okigwe, is more than just a healthcare institution; it is a symbol of visionary representation, a signature project that brings hope, and a testament to what one woman’s determined leadership can achieve.
