Senator Anyanwu Celebrates Former Governor Ikedi Ohakim on Birthday, Hails His Legacy of Decency and Development

Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has extended warm birthday felicitations to the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, describing him as a “decent and visionary leader” whose contributions to the development of the state remain impactful.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Ikenna Onuoha, Senator Anyanwu commended Chief Ohakim for his “contagious decency” in public service and his unwavering commitment to good governance.
Highlighting Ohakim’s early years in public service, the Senator recalled his tenure as Commissioner under the administration of late Governor Evan Enwerem, noting that the former governor played a key role in advancing the administration’s objectives.
Despite facing political mischaracterizations during his time in office, Senator Anyanwu emphasized that history has vindicated Chief Ohakim, recognizing him as one of the few former governors who worked tirelessly to reposition Imo State.
“Chief Ohakim’s developmental policies and leadership style have stood the test of time,” the statement read. “His ‘Clean and Green’ initiative, implemented through the office of his Adviser on Environment, earned Owerri the reputation of Nigeria’s cleanest capital city for three consecutive years. This is a testament to his foresight and belief that cleanliness is next to godliness.”
On behalf of the people of Amaimo, the Anyanwu dynasty, and the Imo State chapter of the PDP, Senator Anyanwu wished Chief Ohakim a happy birthday, praying for his continued good health, longevity, and wisdom in service to God and humanity.
