HONOURING A VISIONARY FRIEND OF OGUTA AND THE OIL-PRODUCING HEARTLAND

Celebrating His Excellency, Chief (Dr) Ikedi Godson Ohakim
A Reformer. A Bridge Builder. A Champion of Justice.

Happy Birthday to a statesman whose leadership forever altered the development trajectory of Oguta and the oil-rich communities of Imo State.

On this special occasion of August 4, 2025, the Bring Back Ohakim (BBO) 2027 Organization in Oguta Local Government Area joins the chorus of voices across Nigeria to celebrate an icon of transformative governance — His Excellency, Chief (Dr) Ikedi Godson Ohakim.

Your Excellency, you are not just a son of Imo; you are a beloved ally and friend of Oguta — a people whose trust you earned through visionary action and heartfelt service. Your bond with us is not political; it is rooted in shared struggle, shared hope, and shared progress.

Perhaps your most indelible legacy in our region was the establishment of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) — a groundbreaking response to decades of marginalization and environmental neglect endured by our oil-producing communities.

Through ISOPADEC under your leadership (2007–2011), the long-ignored cries of Oguta found response in roads, health centers, clean water projects, youth training programs, and direct empowerment initiatives. For the first time, Oguta people — and indeed the wider oil-producing zones — felt the pulse of inclusive governance and responsible leadership.

You understood our pain. You did not offer us pity — you offered policy. You did not make excuses — you made things happen.

From Oguta to Awa, Izombe to Orsu-Obodo, your administration touched lives. You listened, you engaged, and you delivered. That’s why your name still commands reverence in every oil-producing community of Imo — from the banks of Oguta Lake to the farms of Ohaji and the creeks of Egbema.

You were not only a Governor; you were — and still are — our Governor.

Today, as we reflect on your legacy, we also reaffirm our unwavering support for your return to complete what you began — a mission of equity, development, and generational transformation. BBO 2027 is not a campaign to us; it is a debt we owe history.

As you mark this milestone, we pray that the Almighty continues to preserve your life, enlarge your wisdom, and strengthen your resolve.

Happy Birthday, Omee!
You are cherished. You are honored. You are ours.

Long Live Chief (Dr) Ikedi Godson Ohakim!
Long Live Oguta LGA!
Long Live Imo State!
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Signed:
1) Uriel Nwadiaro
2) Dr Reginald Adizua
