Why El-Rufai’s SDP Will Face Rejection Among Southern Kaduna Youths

By Victor Bobai

The political atmosphere in Southern Kaduna has changed, and no amount of rebranding will erase the bitter legacy of Nasir El-Rufai’s tenure. His reckless leadership, divisive policies, and disregard for the welfare of the people have left deep wounds. Now, as he tries to push his influence through the Social Democratic Party (SDP), it is clear that the youth of Southern Kaduna will reject him outright.

El-Rufai: An Enemy of Southern Kaduna’s Progress

El-Rufai’s reputation in Southern Kaduna is one of betrayal and suppression. Under his watch, some of the region’s brightest minds and strongest voices faced persecution:

The Assassination of Agwam Adara: The brutal killing of the revered traditional ruler, Maiwada Galadima, remains a painful memory. His death symbolized the systematic attack on the identity and leadership of the Adara people.

The Tragic Death of Dr. Obadiah Mailafia: A former CBN Deputy Governor and a fearless advocate for justice, Dr. Mailafia was hounded for speaking up against insecurity and marginalization in Southern Kaduna. His death under suspicious circumstances only deepened the people’s distrust of the state government.

Targeted Suppression of Southern Kaduna Leaders: Many outspoken activists, intellectuals, and traditional leaders were either intimidated into silence or forcefully removed from their positions.

These are not mere political disagreements; they are scars that the people of Southern Kaduna have not forgotten.

Southern Kaduna Youths Will Never Forget

El-Rufai’s SDP may try to present itself as a fresh alternative, but the people know better. The youth of Southern Kaduna understand that no political gimmick can erase the years of marginalization, neglect, and violence they suffered under his administration.

He does not believe in inclusivity: His government was known for its discriminatory policies, which sidelined entire communities and deepened ethnic and religious divisions.

He abandoned development in Southern Kaduna: Schools, hospitals, roads—everything suffered under his rule, while resources were disproportionately channeled elsewhere.

He ruled with intimidation and suppression: Activists, journalists, and community leaders who dared to challenge him faced threats and arrests.

Now, without the power of incumbency, El-Rufai no longer has the machinery to intimidate the people. The era of fear is over. Southern Kaduna youths are politically aware, and they will not fall for his rebranded deception.

Stay Away, El-Rufai—You Are No Longer in Power

El-Rufai and his proxies should take this as a clear warning: Southern Kaduna is not your playground. We refuse to be pawns in your political chess game. Your history with our people is written in blood and betrayal, and no amount of political maneuvering can erase it.

Comrade Jerry Adams, and many other true sons and daughters of Southern Kaduna, have stood firm in resisting your oppressive tactics. We stand with them. Your time of unchecked power is over, and we will ensure that you remain a political persona non grata in our region.

Southern Kaduna youth are ready. We reject El-Rufai, his politics of division, and his desperate attempt to remain relevant. The future belongs to those who truly stand for justice, equity, and development—not those who have built their legacy on oppression.
