2027 PRESIDENCY: IMO-BORN FORMER MINISTER NWAJIUBA DECLARES FOR PRESIDENTIAL RACE

As political alignments gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Minister of State for Education and ex-lawmaker, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has formally declared his intention to run for President of Nigeria.
The Imo State–born politician is contesting on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), presenting himself as a candidate anchored on experience, competence, and policy depth.
Sources within his political circle reveal that Nwajiuba’s presidential ambition will focus on education reform, economic recovery, and the rebuilding of public trust in governance—areas he considers vital to restoring Nigeria’s social contract and repositioning the country for sustainable development.
In a statement issued by his media office, Nwajiuba was described as a seasoned legal practitioner, having been called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989, and a former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). He also previously served two terms as a member of the House of Representatives.
The statement emphasized his commitment to a “competence-first” leadership philosophy, which prioritizes policy clarity, technical expertise, institutional memory, and effective negotiation over populist appeals.
According to his team, Nwajiuba’s campaign will be built around sound policy frameworks, strong grassroots structures, and strategic engagement, positioning him as a serious contender in the evolving 2027 presidential landscape.
