FUTO CONFERS DOCTOR OF MANAGEMENT DEGREE ON UZODIMMA

The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), at its 36th Convocation Ceremony, honored Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, with a Doctor of Management degree, Honoris Causa, in recognition of his contributions to education, development and security. The ceremony, held in Owerri, was attended by dignitaries, including the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), H.E. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, among others.
Expressing his gratitude, Governor Uzodimma acknowledged the Visitor to the University, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. (Mrs.) Florence B. Obi. He commended President Tinubu’s commitment to FUTO’s development, saying, “This honor reflects the efforts to strengthen our educational institutions. I remain deeply grateful to Mr. President for always responding to calls for FUTO’s growth.”
The Governor extended his appreciation to FUTO’s Chancellor, HRH Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa CFR; the Pro-Chancellor, Senator Jack Tilley-Gyado CON; the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) Nnenna N. Oti; the Senate and the Congregation of the institution for finding him worthy of the recognition.
During the ceremony, Senator Jack Tilley-Gyado, Chairman of the 13th FUTO Governing Council, highlighted Governor Uzodimma’s role in securing the approval of the FUTO University Teaching Hospital and his dedication to enhancing security within the university. “The Governor’s commitment to educational infrastructure is unmatched,” Tilley-Gyado remarked.
The event also witnessed the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees on other eminent Nigerians, including Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, who received a Doctor of Management, Honoris Causa, and Governor Babagana Zulum CON, who was awarded a Doctor of Technology, Honoris Causa. Both honorees pledged their support for FUTO’s mission of academic excellence.
Felicitating his co-recipients, Governor Uzodimma reaffirmed his dedication to advancing education. “Education remains the cornerstone for a brighter future. I will continue to champion initiatives that ensure our youth are equipped for tomorrow’s challenges,” he said.
