NGOR OKPALA LGA CHAIRMAN, HON. CHIEF MRS. CHIKA IBEKWE FLAGS OFF FIRST ROUND OF BIG CATCH UP ROUTINE IMMUNIZATION EXERCISE IN NGOR OKPALA

… Directs mothers to bring their children under the ages of five years to their nearest health centres for BCU immunization

The Ngor Okpala LGA Chairman, Chief Mrs. Chika Ibekwe in company of Ngor Okpala Primary Health Care Officials, flagged off the BCU immunization exercise in Ngor Okpala LGA. The flag off exercise took place at Umuneke Ngor health centre on this 13th day of December 2024,

Addressing mothers who came for the BCU Immunization Kick Off at Umuneke Ngor Health Centre, Hon. Mrs. Ibekwe affirmed that the BCU immunization vaccine has no negative effect on children, and she therefore advised mothers to feel very free to bring their children for immunization.

The Big Catch Up (BCU) Immunization exercise is for children between the ages of two to five years. However, children below two years of age can be immunized. The reason it is called Big Catch Up, is to target children who are up to five years without being immunized.

While flagging off the first round of BCU Routine Immunization at Umuneke Ngor Health facility, the Ngor Okpala Executive Chairman, Chief Mrs. Chika Ibekwe expressed profound gratitude to the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Dist. Sen. (Dr.) Hope Uzodimma for improving the Healthcare of Imo People. She enjoined staff of Ngor Okpala primary health care to ensure a pragmatic approach in the routine immunization exercise and continue with the awareness till the end of the program.

Chief Mrs. Ibekwe made a cash donation to the Primary Health Officials to encourage them for a better immunization exercise. Also she awarded a cash of twenty thousand naira (N20, 000.00) to the first child who turned up to be immunized as a source of encouragement.

The Acting Director of Ngor Okpala Primary Healthcare, Mrs C.C Onuoha thanked the Executive Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon. Mrs. Chika Ibekwe for her support and commitment to ensuring good healthcare delivery in Ngor Okpala, and most importantly, her determination to ensure inclusive first round of BCU immunization exercise in the LGA.
