Ohakim To Headline Igbo Summit With Keynote Address

Former Governor of Imo State, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, is set to take center stage as the keynote speaker at the 6th Igbo Nation Political Summit, underscoring his continued influence in regional political discourse.
The Igbo National Council, organizers of the annual gathering, announced the development in a statement issued on Monday. The highly anticipated summit is scheduled to take place in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Friday, April 10, 2026.
According to the statement, signed by the Council’s President, Chilos Godsent, and Secretary, Chadikaobi Elesigwe, Ohakim’s keynote address is expected to set the tone for critical conversations around the political future and strategic positioning of the Igbo nation within Nigeria.
The summit will be presided over by former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Imo State, Chief Soronnadi Njoku, SAN. Other notable contributors include Chief Chekwas Okorie, founder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, who will serve as co-speaker, while Professor Anthony Oha will act as facilitator.
With the theme, “Building a Common Front of Igbo Political Bloc for National Relevance: Challenges and Prospects,” the summit aims to convene prominent Igbo leaders, political stakeholders, professionals, youth and women groups, traditional rulers, and entrepreneurs.
The event remains a key platform for fostering unity, strengthening political collaboration, and shaping a coherent strategy for greater Igbo participation and relevance in Nigeria’s national affairs.
